First Sono

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

We had our first doctors appointment on Monday and our first sono today! I am officially 7 weeks and 2 days pregnant! It was absolutely amazing to get to see this little baby of ours. Gregg was able to find the heartbeat right before the sonographer pointed it out to us. I was relieved to get to see the cardiac motion and to know that as of right now everything looks good and seems to be on track. The baby is measuring 1.5 cm long and the heart rate today was 150 beats per minute. We go back to the doctor on April 12 and will have our next sono in about 5 weeks.

Boot Camp

So, I decided that it is time for me to start working out again and try to loose these last few pesky pounds! We have had a gym membership for over a year now but I have only been twice- I just don't like going to the gym and I despise the treadmill!

A friend from work sent out an email about the boot camp that she goes to and so I decided to give it a try. This boot camp is through Start Caring Wellness Inc. and we meet every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday for 5 weeks. I have been twice now and pretty much feel like I have been run over by a truck but am really proud of myself for taking this leap!!! The class is pretty intense and is a mixture of cardio, pilates, mat work, plyometrics, short distance running, weight training, obstacle courses and calisthenics (jumping jacks, push ups, sit ups and jump rope).

We were weighed in and had our measurements and body fat percentage calculated on Monday and then at the end of camp we get it all done again and can compare the results! I am excited to see the difference and hope that this will motivate me to get started in routinely working out again!

My "Almost Birthday" Birthday

Today is my 28th Birthday and of course it is an "A" shift and Gregg is at the Fire Station! So, we decided to celebrate my "almost Birthday" yesterday instead!

Gregg let me sleep late while he went grocery shopping and made breakfast for us! We had bacon, eggs and pancakes and I got an "almost birthday" card. After breakfast we watched the Olympics on TV and some other shows that we had DVR'd and Gregg did the dishes and made Tortilla Soup for lunch. Lunch was fantastic and I am very excited about having extra tortilla soup for lunch at work this week!

We spent the afternoon relaxing and even took a much needed 2 hour nap before getting ready for dinner! Gregg gave me my present before we went out and I got 3 new Pandora charms and a clasp! (I have started my second bracelet and am doing it in red, black, white and silver) I loved my new charms and was very excited to finally have a few more to put on my bracelet!!!

We went to dinner at Houlihan's and then went to the movies to see "When In Rome". We don't go to the movies very often so it was a nice change and a lot of fun for us! The movie was really cute and funny although I have to say that I really was wanting more of it to be based in Rome (especially since we just got back from there). I also was a little confused because we were told on our city tour of Rome that the Trevi Fountain was the "Foutain de Amore" and was where you went to throw coins and wish for love. In the movie they referred to a different, much smaller fountain as the Fountain of Love.

For dinner we ordered off the "small plates" menu and were served sample sizes of several different things. We shared Chipotle Chicken Nachos, a Pot Roast Slider (not pictured), a Pulled Smoked Pork Slider (not pictured), Pickle Fries, and Truckstop Fries! The food was excellent and it was so much fun to have a tasting of several different things!!!

The Italian-Style Donut Flight that we ordered for dessert (Donuts with 2 dipping sauces- a cinnamon, nutmeg with dark chocolate Kahlua sauce and a white chocolate Bailey's sauce)

Thanks babe for a wonderful "almost birthday" and for everything that you did for me yesterday! I loved spending the day with you and look forward to sharing my 28th year with you!!!

Today, has been a lazy day on the couch for me in which I have enjoyed being able to work on updating this blog more and also posting more pictures from our trip to Facebook! Thanks to everyone for all of the wonderful birthday wishes!

Visit to Frisco

On Thursday, I went to go see my cousin, Mikka and her precious little family in Frisco. Mikka had a baby (Carson) the end of December and I have not see any of them since the night of the birth. Mikka's husband, Christopher, is in law school and taking night class and Gregg had to work so I thought it would be the perfect night to have a fun girls night! (Plus I was just dying to get my hands on little Mr. Carson!!!)

such a sweet face

Jadyn insisted on giving me a leg massage while I was holding Carson when I first got there. She used an entire bottle of lotion on my leg while rubbing and combing the lotion in. She even wrapped my foot in a warm towel after the massage in order for the lotion to "soak into my foot and make it very soft"!

After my massage we had dinner and then watched the Olympics and played around the house!

I stayed around for Jadyn's bath and to put Carson to bed. It was so much fun to snuggle with the cuddle bug as he fell asleep!

I had so much fun with Mikka, Jadyn, and Carson and cannot wait to go visit them again!!!

Valentines Lovin'

HAPPY day after VALENTINE'S DAY!!! Gregg and I shared a wonderful Valentine's Weekend together! We had the whole weekend to ourselves at home and it was fantastic!!! We were able to sleep late both days and just spend time together.

We were lazy on Saturday and spent most of the day catching up on our TV shows or watching the Olympics. We did finally get around that afternoon and went out for dinner with our friend Sherri and her granddaughter at On The Border. We were a little disappointed in OTB mainly because our server wasn't that great and our food was cold. After dinner, Gregg and I went to Target to walk off the food and buy a retirement card for one of the guys that Gregg works with.

We slept late again Sunday morning and then went to lunch at Chiloso's here in Wylie and shared some great Mexican food. After lunch we watched more of the Olympics and lounged around the house. We decided not to go out for dinner and instead shared a heart shaped pizza (complements of Papa Murphy's) and a bottle of champagne at home! It was great just to spend the evening with my valentine!!!

Our heart shaped pizza and wine
I love Valentine's Day and think that it is important to celebrate the love that you share with another person! I think it is more important to be thoughtful on Valentine's than it is to spend a lot of money. I love making cards and things for Gregg and trying to think of creative ways to show Gregg how much I love him. I made the card that I gave Gregg this year and had a new bath sheet monogrammed for him to use at the station. Gregg's current towel is old and is a tan color and he cannot wash it with his uniform which drives him crazy! I had the Irving Fire Dept seal monogrammed on the towel along with his name by the guy that does all the uniforms for the Fire Dept. (Thanks to Christy for driving through the crazy snow to drop the towel off and to Chuck for staying open till I could make it by, again in the crazy snow, to pick up the towel!!!)

Gregg gave me a new necklace this year for Valentine's Day with a Maltese cross on it! The Maltese cross is a popular symbol for the fire department. It is a firefighter's badge of honor and signifies that he works in courage. I love my firefighter and will wear this symbol with pride and know that even when he is at the station he is still close to my heart.

Needing to catch up!!!

I have some serious catching up to do (obviously) and am finally starting to work on getting it done!!! This is going to be a MAJOR undertaking though because I just counted up 25 posts that need to be written! I think that I am going to start with the most recent ones and then work on the older ones but may do a little skipping around in between. Hopefully I can get back on top of my blogging game and do a better job! Enjoy our recent adventures!!!

Dallas Blizzard

We LOVE the snow and really enjoyed our snow storm yesterday! I cannot believe we actually go over 12 inches of snow in Texas! I had to work all day but Gregg got to spend the day at home and took lots of pictures that he kept sending to me.

Hope you enjoyed the snow as much as we did! Gotta go now- we both have to work tomorrow and have to be there early so we are headed to the Marriott that is much closer to our jobs to stay the night!
