Gregg and Cade go to Lubbock

Gregg and Cade went to Lubbock for a few days the middle of April so Gregg could teach at the Lubbock Fire School.  This was my first time to be away from Cade and so I was really anxious about the trip!

Gregg goes to Lubbock every year for this school to teach a class on Pump Operations and safe driving.  (This school is where he actually met my Dad for the first time before we even met!)  Last year Cade stayed with me while Gregg went (since I was still breastfeeding) but we decided that it would be a good time for Cade and I to be away from each other for the first time.

Headed out of town- Cade got to ride forward facing for the first time in Gregg's truck

My Mom had a conference in Frisco while the boys were in Lubbock so she came to stay with me for a couple of days which helped with my loneliness!  We were able to enjoy some fun girl time and went out for nice dinners and did a little shopping for her and her new job!  We also worked in Cade's bedroom and our guest room working to get all of Cade's clothes that he has outgrown packed away and put into the attic.  This was something that I have needed to do for quite a while but have just been putting it off opting to spend my time in the evening and on the weekend with Gregg and Cade playing instead of organizing!  It really went a lot quicker than I thought once I got a system down.

Gregg and Cade came home on Friday, April 13 which just happened to be Gregg's 35th Birthday!  I decided to have some cupcakes and decorations waiting for Gregg (along with his presents from Cade and I) when he got home to make the evening more special!  We enjoyed a nice dinner and yummy cupcakes (which Cade LOVED) all while celebrating Gregg on his special day!

Overall, my time away from Cade was beneficial to both of us.  I never thought that I would have a problem being away and had a hard time understanding when my friends talked about this issue before I had Cade.  It was EXTREMELY difficult to not have him home with me but I did survive!  The hardest part was knowing that he was ok without me, which I knew that he would be and I want him to be, but it still tugged at my heart!  Modern day technology is great and so I was able to talk to him on facetime each night and Gregg was great at sending me pictures throughout the day of their activities!  Gregg and I both enjoy our alone time however we both love being with Cade and would choose to have him with us over going somewhere without him anytime!  I do know that we will have to be away from each other as he grows up and I want him to be able to enjoy things like sleepovers and camp but I just want to hold onto this time with him as a little boy for as long as possible!  This little time away helped prepare me for another trip that Gregg and I are taking with my girlfriends over Memorial Day weekend.

Easter Weekend and Ranger's Game

My parents and niece Bailey came to town again this year for Easter weekend! Easter happened to fall on the same weekend as Baseball opening weekend so we decided to get tickets to go see the Ranger's play on Saturday.

The game was a lot of fun even though the Ranger's ended up loosing!  We went a little early and had a very tiny tailgate party which gave Bailey and Cade a little time to play and stretch their legs before heading into the stadium.

We love baseball and went to a lot of games when I was in high school and we lived in Burleson.  My Dad is hoping to get to come down once a month this season for a game and I really hope that happens!
Easter morning we had a fun family celebration.  The Easter Bunny visited our house and left Cade some fun new goodies!

Bailey hid eggs that morning for Cade to hunt but by the time we got home and outside that afternoon it was starting to rain a little and so just let Cade have a quick egg hunt and then we gathered the other eggs.

We had such a great weekend with my parents and Bailey and were so glad that they were able to come and celebrate Easter weekend and go to a baseball game with us!  We are looking forward to the next month or so because we will get to see my parents again several times!  Cade is especially excited about coming to stay with him over Memorial Day weekend and take him to 2 more baseball games while Gregg and I are out of town!

Bluebonnets

We took Cade out to the bluebonnets in early April for the obligatory pictures!  I LOVED the pictures we took last year in the bluebonnets and have been looking forward to them coming back into bloom all year for new pictures!

Cade wasn't too sure about the bluebonnets :( and really didn't want to be down in them for pictures at all.  We tried everything but couldn't get any smiles at all.  Hopefully next year will be better!

Finally a smile as we were walking to the car and Gregg was swinging him down to the ground!

Playing with Lilly

After Gavin's Birthday party we went over to Gary, Macy and Lilly's house to hang out and have dinner.  We aren't able to get together with these dear friends of ours near enough since we live on opposite sides of the metroplex and Gregg and Gary are on different shifts.

We love being able to go to the Lambert's house out in the country and just letting Cade run around!  Cade also loves Lilly and really enjoys following her around and playing with all her cool stuff!

The biggest surprise of the evening was when Cade let The Lambert's puppy, Roscoe, get close to him and then even touched him!  We were so surprised by this because Cade normally panics and screams anytime a dog gets near him.  We try to expose Cade to dogs anytime we can but he is just afraid so this was a big step for us!

Lilly really wanted to put out some Easter eggs for Cade to let him practice hunting them so after we enjoyed a yummy dinner the kiddos went out to pick up the eggs.

The boys were enjoying getting to spend some time together and so Macy and I took the little ones inside to put on their PJs and get them ready for bed.  Once we got them dressed we put on cartoons and let them cuddel together in the big chair.  It was just the sweetest thing to see them together!

We had a most perfect evening with our friends and am so glad that we got to go over to their house to spend some time together!

Gavin's 4th Birthday Party!

We went to Gavin's 4th Birthday party at the Grapevine Aquarium the end of March.  This was our first time to go to the Grapevine Aquarium and so we were really excited about getting to see all the fishes and seeing how Cade would react to everything!
Cade was amazed by all the fish tanks and LOVED being able to press his face against the glass and look at the fishes!  (This was a big surprise for us because Cade is terrified of dogs and so we expected him to be scared of the fishes coming at him.)
